The Real Reason You Stopped Seeing Results From Your Workout…
Do you have a routine or are you stuck in a rut?
Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly where you are, especially if you're really digging your current workout regimen.
Here's the best question to ask yourself in order to find out:
When’s the last time you changed your workout routine?
According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), it's recommended that you change one or more of the following variables in your exercise routine every 6 weeks:
- Frequency
- Intensity
- Timing
- Type
Think of it as the FITT principle, so you never forget.
If you’re wondering why it’s SO important to switch things up with your workouts, it’s because our bodies get used to doing the same workout over time, and we no longer reap the same benefits as we did when it was new.
I like to think of it the same as how we stop noticing our surroundings during our regular routes to work or the grocery store. After awhile everything blends in and we barely notice the landmarks that use to stand out in the beginning.
Our body just goes through the motions with our same, favorite exercise in a similar fashion… not having to work as hard.
New variable = new challenge = new results.
This might seem overwhelming to change things on your own but there are many ways to make change easy AND fun!
